Annual Events
Every fall, we host the Annual Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast in the North End.
The community partner-catered breakfast is a celebration of CED in Winnipeg's inner city and is a highlight of the LITE campaign.
Apart from raising funds for our fall campaign, this event brings together supporters and newcomers to LITE, while promoting and demonstrating CED in action. The Breakfast attracts up to 1000 people, including community members, business leaders, civil servants, students, community workers, MLAs and the Premier - all in support of
LITE.
Local musicians, artists, and craftspeople (Arts & Crafts Sale) all earn income through the breakfast along with our caterer partners. A local Aboriginal worker's co-op, Neechi Foods, is the grocer for the breakfast.
Tickets are $15, $5 for low-income earners and children 6-12 years, and free for children 5 years and under. Tickets can be purchased beginning Oct. 1 at the LITE office (640 Broadway Avenue, Lower Level; 942-8578), or at the door at the Breakfast.
To purchase tickets or to volunteer, please call us at 942-8578 or contact us by e-mail.

The Run for Rights is held in partnership with a growing number of community-
based organizations. Run, walk, cycle, or blade to raise awareness about the
rights of marginalized peoples!
Runners (or walkers, cyclists, and bladers) gather pledges to support LITE's
fundraising campaign. Other volunteers help at the LITE registration table and
act as race marshalls for the runners. The run is followed by a picnic for all
the Run for Rights volunteers. This June event is great for the whole family!
2012's Run takes place on Saturday, June 2. Registration is at 8:30 am at Kildonan Park.
To sign up as a non-runner volunteer, please call us in April/May at 942-8578 or email Jen Buhr at liteadmin@mts.net. We need many volunteers!

Past Events
In September, 2010 LITE hosted 'Shop Outside the Box', an ethical purchasing expo that brought together a variety of retailers and service providers who support worker and community ownership, fair trade principles, environmental sustainability, local employment, organic products and locally produced goods. These retailers and service providers displayed, sold and provided samples of their products, giving Winnipegers a chance to browse, sample, shop and learn how they could make a difference with their dollar!
