LITE Breakfast Update

Over 600 people attended our 15th Annual Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast, helping raise $17,827 in ticket sales, raffle sales and donations!

Run for Rights - another great year!

The 10th Annual Run for Rights was the biggest and best year yet.

Over 100 volunteers came out to help the day of the run and a record 434 runners registered to help raise money for 17 participating organizations.

42 runners came out in support of LITE, helping raise over $1,700!

In total, the Run and Benefit concert raised over $30,000!

Thank you for helping to make Run for Rights a smashing success! We couldn’t have done it without the support of our sponsors, volunteers, runners and donors.

Social Purchasing Portal (SPP) of Winnipeg

LITE is excited to be the new host of the Social Purchasing Portal (SPP) of Winnipeg. Using a website portal, the SPP will connect local suppliers with purchasing partners who support opportunities for local employment and social responsibility.

Run for Rights for LITE!

Support LITE at the 10th Annual Run for Rights - Saturday, June 4th, 2011!

You can walk, cycle, run, or rollerblade a 5km or 10km route. Collect pledges in support of LITE or volunteer to help on the day of the race.

Registration is at 8:30 am in Kildonan Park at the LITE table. The run starts at 9:30 am. See you there!

Run for Rights Benefit Concert -April 29th!

Location: Ukranian Labour Temple, 591 Pritchard Ave

Tickets: $15, available from Music Trader, Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store, LITE's office, and at the door.

Date/Time: Friday, April 29th. Doors open at 7:00 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm.

Net proceeds from the run will be used to support Run for Rights - a coalition of 17 Winnipeg organizations working for social justice and human rights.

Breakfast Update

Over 720 people braved the Winnipeg winter weather conditions in order to come out to LITE’s Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast! We raised $19,800 in ticket sales, donations, and raffle proceeds!

Christmas Comedy Festival - raising money for LITE!

The 2nd Annual Christmas Comedy Festival will take place on Wednesday, December 15th at the West End Cultural Centre.

September 24th's Ethical Purchasing Expo, "Shop Outside the Box" was a great success!

Hundreds of people stopped by to shop, try samples, and learn more about ethical purchasing!

Our noon chocolate tasting game was a lot of fun! Thanks to MLA Doug Martindale, MLA Rob Altemeyer, MLA Dr. John Gerrard, Keran Sanders, host of the CBC Weekend Morning Show, and Megan Tate from The Winnipeg Foundation for participating as chocolate tasters!

Run for Rights Update

Summer 2010

This year's Run for Rights was another great success!

Thankfully, the weather cooperated and over 300 runners came out to support social justice and human rights.

The runners raised $23,000 for 15 participating organizations!

This year, 41 participants ran on behalf of LITE, raising over $4,000!

Thank you to everyone who ran or volunteered on behalf of LITE!

LITE's 2010 Community Grant Partners

Spring 2010

On Thursday, April 29, LITE hosted a Disbursement Event to celebrate the $46,700 distributed in early April to inner city employment projects as part of our Community Grants initiative.

Several of LITE’s Community partners attended the event and shared their stories with the group. This year, LITE distributed funds to nine community projects and six of these are new LITE partners!

Nova, Flo, Littlehawk, and Phoebe Man are headlining the Run for Rights Benefit Concert Monday, May 3 at the West End Cultural Centre.

Doors open at 7:00 pm, showtime 7:30 pm. Tickets are just $15, available at Folk Festival Music Store, Mondragon, Into the Music and the WECC.

The Run For Rights is hosted by a coalition of diverse Winnipeg organizations promoting social justice causes. The 2010 Run is sponsored by Assiniboine Credit Union, MGEU, CUPE, CKUW, and KICK FM

And the Winners are...

February 2010

Last fall, a group of LITE supporters decided to hold a beard growing contest to raise money for LITE. Participants registered for the contest in September and the beards were judged on November 27th at LITE's Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast.

Derek Eidse won for the Best Beard, Colin McInnes won for the Best Groomed Beard and Andy Blum won for the Worst Beard.

The money raised from the contest was donated to LITE in the name of the three winners. Thank you to everyone who participated to help raise funds for LITE!
