LITE's Christmas Hamper Program
Through our hampers, we can feed families and create jobs for people in the community that face significant barriers to employment.
By purchasing food and goods from inner city businesses and social enterprises, LITE supports much-needed local employment while helping grow a local economy.
Typically, flooding a community with free food can have a negative effect on local businesses. When people aren’t shopping locally those employees can’t make an income.
We partner with North End Community Renewal Corporation and West Broadway Community Organization Good Food Club to assemble and deliver 400 hampers to people living in North End and West Broadway/Spence neighbourhoods.
We want to give people real meals. The hampers are filled with fresh and canned food. Our partner organizations include recipes to encourage healthy eating, and aim to connect our most food insecure neighbours to programs that can help people access good food and healthy eating all year long.
Help us create 50 jobs for people who need an opportunity. The holiday season is our busiest time for job creation. LITE provides the funding for these jobs—money donated by generous Winnipeggers.
We are accepting monetary donations to fund jobs and buy food in bulk. Click the button below to donate online, and let us know you're designating that donation to the Hamper Program.
We are also asking for generous donations from community grocery stores and wholesalers. If you are part of a food wholesaler that would consider donating to our hampers, please contact us at email@example.com.
