We would like to introduce two new staff members who will be joining our team for the summer. They will be taking the role of marketing assistants, and they will be working on various promotions for upcoming products on the shop, as well as promoting events such as the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Blueberry Pancake Breakfast.

We hope that during their time here, we can help them grow and develop their skills, primarily in the area of telling the stories of the community and showing the positive effect LITE has on the community.

ABOUT URVASHI

Urvashi - 2022 LITE Summer Marketing AssistantMy name is Urvashi Gupta and I am one of the Marketing Assistants at LITE this summer. I am a Regional and Urban Planning student at the University of Saskatchewan, headed towards my final year. I have a background in psychology and biological sciences from the University of Manitoba.

I am passionate about advocacy and I do not believe in speaking for others over their lived experiences. I feel strongly about portraying those experiences authentically and storytelling plays a crucial role in allowing us to do that.

I am a visual person and I value what photography and videography can capture, especially when accompanied by the right words. I am well-versed in social media from my personal experience and am honoured to bring those skills to the table to help LITE with storytelling.

I want to approach Planning from a community-centered lens and I am certain that my experience at LITE will help me develop my approach.

ABOUT KOLYA

Kolya - 2022 LITE Summer Marketing AssistantHi, I’m Kolya Kosmin-Rose, one of the newly hired marketing assistants at LITE. I’m a recent graduate from Gordon Bell High School, and I am planning on entering into university this fall. In the past, I worked with the Interfaith Youth Core’s Faith in the Vaccine program as an ambassador, and helped to advocate for the COVID-19 vaccine and worked to make it more accessible in more lower-income areas of Boston, Massachusetts.

This position at LITE is the perfect chance for me to grow in areas I’ve wanted to for a long time. For instance, the focus on communication allows me to grow in that department. Plus, the focus on the stories of those LITE has helped is a chance for me to broaden my perspective and learn from them. I’m still planning out a lot about my future, but I’m sure this chance to work with LITE will help go towards a good path.

You’ve already seen posts written by these two, on our social media channels such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

This position was made possible through funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program, and we thank them for their support.
