LITE creates volunteering opportunities for members of the community to gain job experience based on their needs, and offers ways for people from across the city to engage in community economic development.

Mentors

The role of a mentor is to provide guidance and advice to those looking to learn and grow. Draw on your experience to help participants develop their skills in a supportive environment.

Helpers

You’re good at getting things done, and helping others do the same. Helpers aid in the production of goods for the LITE Shop and other social purchasing initiatives.

Movers

Movers make projects happen, from getting materials where they need to be, to delivering products to people who bought them, all while supporting learning and creating a positive work experience for others.

Shakers

Help oversee, govern and chart the future of our organization. Shakers include our volunteer board of directors, volunteer board committee members, and similar roles.

Office Skills Volunteer Program

Our in-office volunteer program is designed for people who identify having barriers to employment and wish to gain experience working in an office environment.

Volunteers learn basic office skills (answering phones, welcoming visitors, organizing files and other administrative duties), and are introduced to more specialized skills based on their future work interests (administration, data entry, communications).

Help create the next generation of LITE Shop products, and build new skills in the process.
Support our community economic development work by creating new things and making connections with LITE and our partner organizations.

Honorariums

Hard work deserves recognition. As our annual budget allows, LITE is pleased to offer honorariums in recognition of contributions to all LITE volunteers. To qualify, volunteers must show proof of income at or below the Low-Income-Cut-Off.
