Something very special is blooming in North Point Douglas!
LITE Winnipeg is excited to invite the community to a North Point Douglas Community Garden Party on Sunday, August 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, across from Barber House at 99 Euclid Avenue. Join neighbours, friends, poets, artists, and community members for an afternoon in the garden featuring poetry, music, refreshments, Garden Medicine Teachings, and a celebration of the creativity and community spirit found throughout North Point Douglas.
A special feature of the afternoon will be the official launch of Monarda Press, a new publishing imprint of LITE Winnipeg, along with its first literary chapbook, You Shine Today (You Are Not Lost). Edited by Winnipeg’s Inaugural Poet Laureate Di Brandt, the collection showcases poems written by Indigenous and other local women from North Point Douglas and surrounding communities.
Featured chapbook poets will also be joining us to share their work, making this a wonderful opportunity to celebrate local voices, stories, creativity, and the strength of community through poetry.
