On behalf of LITE, I would like to begin with a big THANK-YOU for your support over the past year. Together we raised over $114k that will allow LITE to continue making big impacts in the community over the year ahead. This means more support for partners to hire folks to do work that gives back to their neighbours and community while also earning some cash that helps bridge their own budget gaps; or the opportunity for community members to gain work experience and learn essential job skills; or money to support our community and social enterprise partners through social and charitable purchases of unique products, food items and gifts that will be distributed back into community through hampers and partner agencies.
This past year came with a lot of change, learning and growth (especially for us board members)! Our Executive Director, Jewel, followed her own opportunities, moving on from LITE after leading the organization through our busiest season and a successful return to the in-person Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast. We want to thank Jewel for the insight and perspective she shared in her work with the board, and wish her the best in her new opportunity! Following Jewel’s departure, we welcomed Joanna Plater as our Acting Executive Director to help keep us on track, while we work closely with staff on plans for the coming year, including the search for LITE’s new Executive Director.
Thank-you once again for your ongoing support and commitment. With the ever-rising cost of living we are all feeling the crunch- but for folks who are fighting to meet their basic needs, safe and supportive opportunities to earn money are crucial. Let’s keep working together to build an economy that is for people, and not the other way around! Let’s work every day to create the world that we want to live in.
